Watt Sea
What is the average energy cost per megawatt for coal, oil, gas, nuclear, wind, sea, etc.?
Link Gone Galt. In this connection, it is quite clear that we must be moving to nuclear energy. Moving to nuclear energy from my estimate using our current consumption will save $ 100 billion per year in comparison with any other plan in the books. The best thing is that it will save money compared with how we produce energy. Why AGWers Washington propose a bill that does not include nuclear power as a clean energy source of energy is really beyond me. It's as if they are interested not really the environment, their own portfolio. I sincerely doubt that this would still be a major problem that we must make. Since they can produce nuclear energy at a discount, they should release the red ribbon around nuclear power to enable it to take on the market. Once again it is one of those cases where loosening the limits and break free from gov't control will help a lot more tightening. In Indeed, why are we even arguing about AGW. AGWers you want to move to nuclear energy, losing the red ribbon around places construction of nuclear reactors, I will support you 100%. That would drop our CO2 emissions dramatically, reduce energy costs and a win-win for everyone except maybe Al Gore. And before you ask, yes, I would not have a problem with a nuclear reactor in my backyard (but honestly my backyard is entirely too small for a nuclear reactor). Beyond that, by the time we run out of nuclear material, we have probably found the means to achieve nuclear fusion in a safe because they are already working to make a nuclear fusion plant power as a test bed. Add to this, a shift to electric cars. to be viable for the public once they are able to create profitable e-cars that can go from 400 to 500 miles on one charge (we're really not that far from it). This would eliminate almost all emissions of CO2, and can really be done in about 30 years. The real question is whether it should mandate the government to accomplish these goals. I think this could be achieved by reducing Govt controls in some areas, but allowing the government to ensure that oil does not interfere with e-cars.
