Prescription Scuba
Best diving mask option to order the start diving?
I am new to diving and I heard glasses protection measure based on prescription lenses. I also find companies who make glasses and lenses made to the prescription form. Not sure what the best option is to use or the site. I'm myopic, but it is a relatively low order (can make objects in the distance, but can not read all the signs). Suggestions?
Myopia is usually not a problem for scuba diving, since water clarity generally has a much more restrictive on the visual range of myopia. Also, getting prescription glasses for ways to add considerably the cost of a standard mask, so if you're already sure you're gonna do a lot of diving, I do not worry not too much about it at this point. But if you do, here are the choices. cheapest option: clear glass (ie, all-the-shelf mask). Advantage: cheap. Disadvantage: no optical correction Second cheapest option (!): Stick to the lenses. Advantages: Can be applied to any mask. Disadvantages: must be positioned correctly, may not exactly match your requirement, do not look good. more expensive option: mask with interchangeable lenses (ask your local dive shop): proper positioning for: Benefits lenses, and looks like a "normal" mask (ie stick better than Firefox!) if the frame mask breaks, the lenses can be transferred to their replacements. Disadvantages: limited range of models mask the choice may not match exactly your prescription (lenses usually sold in increments of 0.5 diopters) The most expensive option: custom lenses. Advantages: according to your exact prescription, and positioned correctly on your eyes. Disadvantages: high cost, and v.expensive / disadvantage to replace If you think you might want to get a prescription mask, I recommend the third option. Buy a normal mask for now, but make sure it a model that allows you to swap lenses (and seals properly on your face, as said Doug). So if you want to update it later you can. Hope this helps.
