"Tang has to do with how far the blade extends into the handle. Most replica swords have only one flavor of an inch, which means that the blade is likely to fall if you touch something with it. A half-tang is slightly better, and full-tang is the best you can get. A full-tang sword has a blade that extends the entire length of the handle for stability and durability. If you plan to use a sword or a knife to the ignition, you should definitely have a full-tang, but mostly for training purposes non-contact, semi-tang will.
