What do you do with your kids while SCUBA diving?
I'm just curious to know what SCUBA divers with kids do with their kids while they're diving. Do you:
* leave them at home with a family member
* take them + a non-diving adult on the dive trip and have the non-diving adult watch the kids
* take them on the trip and leave them with some type of babysitting/daycare service while you're diving
* bring them on the boat and let them snorkel with a divemaster while you're underwater?
My wife and I dive, and don't plan to have children. But we were toying with the idea of taking our nephew to FL to watch the shuttle launch and go to Disney World. We thought "hey, it would be nice if we could get some diving in", quickly realized that wouldn't be possible, and now I'm just wondering what divers with kids tend to do.
@academicjoq: Please read the full question before insulting me. I *don't* have kids. I said I was just wondering what people who *do* have kids do.
Something that's become really popular is Kids Sea Camp. You can bring kids to a popular dive destination (Cayman, Fiji, Palau) and the kids do fun activities at the resort (including getting certified to dive themselves) while the adults do regular boat dives. Everyone gets together again in the afternoon. It started out as a couple sessions per summer in Cayman and has since exploded in popularity. It runs almost year round.
Incidentally, you can dive the big aquarium at Epcot Center. The link below describes the experience for certified divers, but at the bottom there's a link to activities for non-certified divers.
